Bring on the Spanish fun!TOP STORY: Caruso Positive in 2012!The Katusha team has had a bit of a scare on the run up to the Vuelta a Espaa. Giampaolo Caruso has been found positive for EPO in a sample taken in March 2012, due to retroactive testing on old samples. This comes after Luca Paolini’s positive for cocaine. According to MPCC rules: If a team has two adverse findings in a 12 month period the team must suspend its self for a month (see Androni). No problem as they are three years apart. Under UCI rules: If a team is ‘notified’ of two adverse findings in 12 months they will be banned for a time decided by the UCI. This looked to be a problem for the team, although we are still waiting for the ‘B’ sample tests for both riders. Luckily for the Russian team the UCI cannot use a law retroactively as that law did not exist in 2012 and so the team will not suffer.Two questions come to mind: If samples are being held from up to 10 years...
