EuroTrash Thursday coffee time.TOP STORY: Train Crossings and Bike RacesDuring Sunday’s Paris-Roubaix the barriers came down on the peloton and some of the riders dodged through, Bradley Wiggins being one of the top name riders. French champion, Arnaud Dmare (FDJ.fr), actually hit his head on the barrier in his rush to beat the TGV. It is estimated that twenty or thirty riders went through the level crossing ‘illegally’. The front group was neutralized until the race came back together, so there was no advantage. French railway, SNCF, have asked the police to investigate this ‘irresponsible’ act of crossing a closed train crossing, especially as it was witnessed by millions of TV viewers.Riders will be riders and they take chances all the time during a race, maybe not in front of a speeding train, but dropping down an Alpine pass at nearly 100kph on a bike is hardly a safe way to earn your money. So to cross a railway line when you think it’s safe is probably nothing in comparison.
