    Hi [IMG]/img/vbsmilies/smilies/smile.gif[/IMG]

    I found this bike on a shop:

    Its a peugeot Avoriaz:

    The bike is used but the frame supposed to be in a good condition.

    Some parts are not original including the wheels, the handlebar tape, the tires and the saddle.

    The bike has steel wheels at the moment and it costs around 180euro. If I have them changed with aluminium ones the price goes up to 240 euro.

    Do you think that this bike is a good buy? I read somewhere that the bike is made from HLE tubing.

    Reynolds, colombus etc are tube manufacturers right? Is it HLE tubing also cro-mo? The brochure that I found on the net doesnt say anything about the frame being butted. Do you know where I can find a specification table for that material?

    HLE is probably equivalent to their older carbolite (carb-o-[censored]) 103 tubing that's about the same grade of steel used in 1920s gas pipes. I had a Peugeot Robert Millar with carboshite 103 tubing complete with plastic downtube levers, rear mech and the saddle from hell - but it was ace - when I was 15... The rest of the componentry is entry level and didn't cost that inflated asking price when new... Even if it was kept in it's box until now and never ridden it wouldn't be worth that much. Tell the shop you'll take it off their hands if they give you 220euros.

    +1. It is extremely low end. Brake extension handles and stem mounted shifters indicate that it is not meant for much more than the occasional 5 miler. 180 Euros is extremely high for that bike. 35 Euros is all that I would give for it, and then only if I really wanted it for some strange reason.
