For anyone who is in the market for a pair of road bike shoes, I just
came across a very good deal at Rebel Sport in Westfield Carousel.
I was actually looking at Netti rain jackets and asked someone, who
turned out to be the manager, about a particular jacket that wasn't in
stock. He made some enquiries and said they couldn't find it, but took
my name and said he'd check with the warehouse again. Before I went,
he asked if I was after some bike shoes.
He said he got a very good deal on a bunch of Pearl Izumi road shoes in
various sizes. They were on clearance with the wholesaler and he took
the batch.
I balked at the $299 price of the Vipers (top of the line carbon fibre
race shoes) then he said he'd give me $100 off because he wanted to get
rid of them. Later at the checkout he gave me another $10 off, so I
got them for $189. (The manager's name was Shane, if you want to ask
for him by name).
They looked pretty cheap for a carbon fibre road shoe so I figured it
was a very good deal, when I went home I jumped on the net to see what
they retail for. Prices on the net vary of course, but RRP looks to be
pretty close to $350 and various sites have described the Pearl Izumi
Viper road shoe as a top of the line racing shoe as good as any you'll
find.
They are very comfortable and lightweight and have a spiffy looking
dial to twist instead of shoelaces. More cheap bling...
Anyway, just thought somebody here might benefit from this tip...
