  1. Cold cold cold here today, in the 30's.
Not normal for this time of year in Central Texas. <G>

I have a small bunch (3) of Leeks I need to use up, so will remove the
dry sheaths, slice and sautee' them in some grapeseed oil until they are
soft, and add a couple of cloves of pressed garlic and some grated
    ginger root.

I have two large slices of ham thawing and will chop that up and add it
to the pan to brown a bit when the leeks get soft. Am debating adding
some white and yellow onion as well?

Once that is in good shape, I have a can of low salt chopped tomatoes
and two cans of "Eden" black soy beans to add.

I have dry black soybeans as well but don't want to wait for a soak.

Should make a decent ham and bean soup, perfect for the ugly weather. ;-)

Corn bread might go well with this.

I bought a butt portion of ham last week and if I get it during the day
when the cutters are there, I can have it sliced up for me! Handy that.
No increase in price and it makes it easier to use. I only cook for 2
people so it's nice to be able to freeze a whole ham in portions.
