but I'm getting hung up on pedals ( no pun ) .. I used to ride with Ritchey Logic and was very happy with them .. but is there a substanial difference between road and mtn. bike pedals?
These are both shimano's highest end pedals in road and mountain, and there is a little weight differnce. What pedals do you have now? Although if you do any kind of serrious road riding mountain pedals are going to suck.
Road pedals have a larger contact surface between the pedal and shoe. Most road pedals are one-sided with the exceptions being Speedplay and Crank Bros. Road shoes are stiffer and take some getting used to in walking around in them. If your road bike is mainly a commuter bike, most people have no problem with using a mountain bike pedal setup, but if you plan on doing a lot of road miles, you will be happier with a road pedal/shoe combo.
Thanks for the info... to start I'm just going to be doing some riding around town and the commute ( 15 km each way, flat ) but as I get my legs back I do want to get into some proper road distances.
Cdy, as far as my current pedals?.. its better not to ask... my current bike is really just a junker... I've not done any serious riding since I moved over here ( switzerland ) from the states ( and yes, I'm afraid those cheese fondues have taken their toll ) :eek: 😠
