While cleaning and re-lubing an older set of Look Arc pedals, I over-torqued the locknut on one and stripped it out. I thought that because the cartridge bearing was not fully seating on the race that I needed to crank on it harder- Doh!
Anyway, I screwed the pooch, but I can't remove the locknut to see the damage - it turns but doesn't go anywhere. The spindle is tight enough I guess. Can I just use this pedal until it starts to get sloppy, or is that too dangerous?

Well, it's up to you really. I suspect the pedal will fail
in short order. You could end up tightening up the cone as
you ride until the pedal seizes. Or it may simply loosen off
and then when you try to release your foot, the pedal will
come off with the cleat! Personally, I'd find another
solution..new spindle from a junk pair from some shop or a
new set of pedals. Or try harder to get the locknut out.
Maybe the spindle is fine and you can just replace the nut.
