I have had clipless pedals for a couple months now and have a few questions.
How important is float.
How tight should you adjust the pedals.
When I watch races it appears that most of the riders are in a pigeon toed position with their knees coming close to the center bar as they pedal. Is this correct and is it the most effficient position.

Some people would never have a problem as long as their cleats were adjusted properly, but most of us probably would.
I have noticed the same thing watching the professionals, that their knees almost brush the top tube. When I think about it while on the bike, I try to emulate this, and it does seem somewhat more efficient. My guess is that it would be more aero as well.
As far as pedal tightness, I think this is mostly personal preference. Most of my riding is off-road, so I like mine set fairly loose for easier exit, but I know other riders who set theirs to maximium tightness.
