The "catch plate " - my description - on might right VP pedal has just failed. This is a Shimano SPD compatible single sided pedal and this plate is the one screwed to the top of the pedal that the cleat clips into. The front outside cleat retaining lug has snapped off. The pedal has been on the bike for close on 10,000 miles and I naturally unclip first from this pedal.
All my local LBSs tell me that such spares are not available so its a set of new pedals. VP's web site is not much use either. Has anyone else had this type of failure, if so did you find any spares or is it possible to successfully make your own from what looks like 1.5mm sheet steel.

VP pedals are petty mediocre in quality. For the cost of a repair, you may be able to buy a whole new pedal of similar quality.

VP pedals are petty mediocre in quality. For the cost of a repair, you may be able to buy a whole new pedal of similar quality.
Agreed. We only stock Shimano-branded SPD pedals, as VP pedals generally use inferior materials and design. Only if a customer asks for it do they get a VP. Wellgo is better than VP but not as good as Shimano. -- Phil, Squid-in-Training

I have broken a couple of these on Wellgo pedals. I just cannibalize other pedals for parts, since that part seems to be common over several models. Wellgo pedals are cheap enough (don't think I've ever spent over $30) just to buy spares.
