  1. Hi,

I went heavy one day on the bench press and I my right shoulder started
to hurt. Like most people, I ignored this minor pain for a while. Then
I went to the DR and he said I have pectoral tendonitis, take
antinflamatory drugs for a few weeks and go back slowly. Now my
question is, can this really, really heal? At first, I didn't take the
drugs, the pain would go away after about 2 days, and then I would
start working out which would aggravate it. The only *really time* that
it doesn't hurts is when I do the dumb bell bench presses. I'm getting
great results, I haven't looked this cut ever so I'm praying my wieght
    lifting career isn't over.

  2. Usaims,
Do you do incline presses? I have shoulder pain at times and flat
bench presses tend to aggravate it if I do it too much. I have found
that for me incline presses aren't as painful and they still translate
over to the bench when I workout at it. I also do the fly machine and
dips. I maxed at bench last night and it had increased even though I
don't lift at bench very often.

    Good luck,
    James

  3. Yes I do inclines. They don't hurt as much.

  4. Usaims,
Bench press is more stressful for the joints from what I have
noticed. I usually do bench about every fourth chest/tricep workout.
If you are deadset on doing bench every workout maybe you could keep it
relatively light and controlled. You could do your heavy sets on
incline. I think your condition can heal if you are careful with it
and don't keep reinjuring it. It sounds like if you limited your bench
pressing to dumbells for now you would help the situation.

    Good luck,
    James
