Trains home last night were fouled up - again!* - which meant we got stuck at Faversham waiting for a driver to turn up. Since Faversham is one stop down the line for me, I thought: "Sod this!"; got off and rode home.
Hence I was on my old steel bike, replete with rack, mudguards, lights, dynamo and a pannier full of school books.
So, I'm pretty chuffed that I covered the 14km home at an average 34.something km/h - near enough 24 minutes dead.
If only I had a /proper/ bike... (ie a red one)

* fire at Swanley - the previous evening it had been a fire at Rochester. Wonder where the fire will be tonight...
