  1. So, this club project is moving along. The biggest part now is just having
patience, getting the word out, encouraging folks to share their rides and
so on. There are days when I look at how much has been accomplished just
since the first of the year, and then there are other days when I look at
how many people don't even know we exist, yet. The hardest thing now is
just to let things go on their own momentum, and quit trying to build more
    organization than is needed.

My weekly weekday gal's rides seem to be a hit tho. ;-)

Is it still fairly small? I'm not saying that like its a bad thing - its a
good thing IMO. I just couldn't get into the big group rides that
constantly got scattered over a half-mile of trail except when everybody'd
wait for (sometimes lengthy) periods, regroup, then scatter again.

The Portland United Mountain Peddler (PUMP) Wednesday rides are more like
a swarm in the summertime (its all fireroad, fortunately). I just avoid
riding that area on Wednesdays, or at least get a personal chuckle at my
status as a "Portland Independent Moutain Peddler".

I"m feeling much better. I just got home from our first trail maintenance
school/day and we had a great turnout and did a bunch of work. I do not
want swarm rides... I know exactly what you mean. It's just letting the
process of building a club happen. We had some guys who saw us in the
distance ride over to where we were fixing some drainage, just to find out
    what we were doing.

I was kind of looking at the glass as half empty but all is good now.
