Hi all!
I have a 1990's Kestrel 200 EMS, with 700 miles, with Dura Ace 8 speed components. I have an FD 7400 Front Derailleur, RD 7402 Rear Derailleur and BR 7402 Brakes. I would like to change my downtube shifters to newer brifters. I have had no luck finding ST 7400 in decent shape, so I would like to see if Sora or Tiagra 9 speed shifters would work.
I have read forums that says any shimano 9 speed would work and have read Sheldon Browns compatibility chart - but I don't understand it. Is there anyone out there that has tried alternate model/brand shifters with dura ace 8 speed? Would microshift work?
Also, I am looking for downtube cable stops - they have to have a round shape, about 1" diameter, and have a flat surface, not concave. I apprecaite any help
