I have hayes so1e hydraulic gears on my bike, the right gear lever took a bang and the ball from the gear lever that fits in to the socket inside the main gear unit no longer remains in place so the lever keeps popping out. A quick look at the unit shows that there is usually a metal ring that surrounds the ball and keeps it in place inside the socket - this has fell out.
Question is - anyone bought a replacement gear lever before and does the ball connection rings come with it? Seems a shame to spend cash on a whole brake unit just for that.

I think you mean hydraulic brakes.
You may be able to buy the circlip separately as a spare from a Hayes stockist - if not then it comes as part of the cylinder overhaul kit.
If all else fails then it might be worth contacting the UK importer www.hotlines-uk.com - they were very helpful when I had a problem.
