  1. Wore my new jacket at the weekend for the first time in the hills.
Saturday was in the Monadliath, a sleety dreich day. Snow and sleet lay
on surface of jacket. Nothing penetrated. Jacket very comfortable and
pocket layout ideal for map etc. I was only wearing their short sleeved
T shirt underneath but was perfectly warm as long as I was moving. Stop
at the summit short as I started to get uncomfortably cold very rapidly.
Sunday was on one of the Drumochter Munros, Meall Chuaich. Again
perfectly warm as long as I was moving. Later in the day sun came out
(great views towards Ben Alder). The ventilation zips enabled me to keep
temperature just the way I wanted. Friend in traditional shirt, fleecy,
GoreTex, overheating. Finally in greasy spoon in Ballinluig noticed I
still smelt reasonably fresh whereas he was a bit rich. Conclusion
jacket a great success. Will be interesting to test it in the pouring
rain. Also yet to have to wash or reproof it. May get a paramo shirt as
well for the really cold days.

I think you'll be seeing an entry on your credit card bill for
a pair of Cascada trousers very soon ;-)

I'm sure your right, but I think it will be a long sleeved vest, then a
shirt and then the trousers. Hopefully my better half might be persuaded
to buy me some/all of it as a bithday present.

    <snip>

Excellent, thanks for the report. Being an unfortunate combination of
cold and yet sweaty I've taken to wearing a Paramo shirt with a
sleeveless medium fleece over it and oldish goretex jacket if wet. The
Aspira might well be my next purchase.
