I have just acquired a Panasonic Sport 1000 in 'like new' condition and
am wondering what it's original cost was and its present worth.

If I remember correctly that was sort of a medium level bike. It might help
if you told us what components were on the bike but in any case it's hard to
rate it compared to bikes today since the level of components on even a
cheap bike are a hell of a lot more sophisticated if not "better".
