Painting a frame

Next door has son staying with her, he is a man with his own
children, he was diddling about in his own home and "found" a bike in
the garage that had belonged to his son. Next door knew I took the boys
cycling so told her son and he gave me the bike. It was an old BSO (but
it was free so I took it) I thought I know I'll strip it down and paint
the frame; as it was light blue (a colour I hate), covered in APOLLO
decals and had a few chips in the paint , as this bike was just to be
used for popping along to the next village (Currie, I live in Balerno)
taking the boys on three ~four mile cycles around the local area (i.e. a
"pub bike" for a teatotaller) thought mmm a hand brushed finish will
suffice so took the bike to bits took everything off inc the forks
thought this would take me all weekend, took an hour. Brushed on a coat
of Hammerite "Satin black" waited for the paint to dry and reassembled
the bike again, thought this would take me a couple of days, took two
hours the majority of that was getting the brakes adjusted. There were
a few scuffs/missed bits so touched up the frame. Was going to post
some kitchen pRon when this touch up paint had dried but the paint job
very definitely looks like hand brushed Hammerite, but then the
worth/quality of the bike wasn't worth anymore. To get it blasted,
sprayed, new decals, all that would have cost more than the "bike" was
worth.
