when i was on a merry old bike ride, after a few miles i on the drop bars my back and neck starting hurting. why?

Just to let you know, you posted the same thread twice. 🙄
And now, I'm just taking a stab at it. But it might have something to do with position, etc. of your body during the ride. I don't know how physically fit you are, but that might have played a factor.
Like I said, a mear stab in the dark.

either your stem is too long or your bar to seat height is too great. I can only recommend getting fit. If your neck has to look ahead and it is strained this will cause pain. Try a different angle stem, more spacers or shorter stem.
