I've been watching my weight lately and I noticed that the mornings
after days that I didn't salt my regular lunch (about one packet of
salt) I could weigh as much as 3 pounds lighter than the morning
before. I'm always concentrating on drinking enough...my urine is only
yellow a few hours after I take a multivitamin...every other day or
so...so I don't think I was truely dehydrated on those days. I figure
all this weight was salt that accumulated from these meals, and the
water that my body held to balance it. I would guess this water and
salt is a great thing to have around when doing long runs in the
summer, but now it's in the 40's when I run, and hasn't been over 65
in...I don't know how many days...but at least 2 weeks. I always
thought I could use the extra water and salt (summer thinking). What's
good about having this around now? I can only see it slowing my down.
I figure I'm not dehydrated at 152 and peeing clear so it must be
better than being 155, unless someone forces me to run 15 miles wearing
a plastic bag.
