  1. I intend riding two relatively long races (over 90KM) in two weeks over Feb; the ride for sight and super cycling. I only train three hours a week, but quite intensively. Should I only ride one race and ride it like hell, or try and do both agressivley?

    Any sage advice welcome..........

  2. I have no clue what your base is, or how much you HAVE been riding to this point, but I wouldn't count on winning or even placing in either. Your long rides for the week should be at least as long as your race is, and your weekly total is only barely there. If you are in good shape, then best of luck. But your current training is not enough to be competitive... not here anyway.

But best of luck, the distances are relatively short, and over two weeks should give you adequate time to get a few more miles, but Im afraid it may be too late. Do intervals with brief rest working up to 6-12 minute work sessions in zone 4. But once again, I have no clue as to your previous training.

  3. You might as well do both. That way you'll get a good idea of where you're really at.

    But - 3hrs a week?!?!??

You're not telling us how much you normally do (ie. that base kms) but if I assume that 3hrs a week is your base as well, I think that's not really enough.

In 'C' grade for a 90km race over relatively flat terrain you can expect to average between 38 & 40km/hr. Grafton - Inverell (230km with a massive 18km climb in it at 100km) is run at about 28km/hr for C grade.

How does that fit with your current capabilities?
