  1. Today I experienced (for the second time - the first being about 2 years ago) the strangest out of body experience while chugging up a long winding 2 miler.

This isn't runner's high (which I felt a few times in my Army days, [when I was forced to run!]) It was more like an extra-awareness that swamped all my other senses. Suddenly I couldn't feel my legs pumping. They weren't numb, but just separate and "doing their own thing" while "I" (whatever that is) was swept into the moment.

The whole episode lasted about 5 miles, during which the backside of the hill found me fighting this feeling because a part of me was scared that going 45MPH, high on whatever cerebral fluids happened to be flowing was probably not a wise idea - mind expansion notwithstanding....

  2. Nothing like that in my case, certainly. For me it's usually a profound urge to curl up in a little ball and abandon that painful climb under a shady tree by the side of the road, sucking the water bottle like a baby's pacifiier. Then maybe some involuntary dry heaves for a while.

So, what does this mean?, you are lucky, keep up the euphoric stuff, and f' you in a race.
