This doesn't have anything to do with anything. Just something I read
from review of books on advertising ("The 100 Greatest Advertisements
1852-1958, by Julian Lewis Watkins; published 1959, Dover Press).
Classified ad published in a London newspaper in 1900:
"Men wanted for Hazardous Journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long
months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful.
Honor and recognition in case of success--Ernest Shackleton."
The response from would-be polar explorers was said to have been
overwhelming.
