OT: US Highway 80 or 70

Tons of cops in Penn., and Ohio.
Take I80 out of Chicago then from Iowa take I76 to Denver.
Nebraska is an easy drive, plus you can stop at Cabelas.

I've been on a few XC trips (though none in the past 5 years). Usually
we took I-80 and [censored] about the construction.

The exception was the trip we took to move my sister out here (from
Dacron Ohio.) (The night before we actually packed up her stuff & left
was the first and only time she's ever been camping. We caught the
tail end of a hurricane, with thunder, lightning, whipping winds,
falling tree branches, feral kitten, and a leaky rain fly, but that's a
story for another time.)

Anyway...here's a comment from the trip journal I kept:

"I sure am glad we took I-70 instead of I-80 so we could avoid the
construction & the tolls! HA HA HA!"

My point being: you're gonna get screwed either way, so just get out
the vaseline.

Not sure from New Jersey but from Louisville, KY I always take Route 70
picking it up in St. Louis. I've come back from Cheyenne to Louisville on 80
and despite a rainstorm and driving all night it wasn't too bad either
although not as quick as 70 I don't think. Either way is pretty damn boring
and 80 will go through Chicago which is not a good thing (tolls and
traffic).

Cleveland through Chicago has gotta be busy. I drove to PA on 70 last
year without too much traffic except in Terre Haute. Two hour traffic
jam, go figure. Kansas speed limit is 70 mph, Nebraska is 75, that
might be part of the difference in the estimate YMMV :-)
Take I76 in western NE into Denver if you take I80.
