  1. I'm getting settled in here, and I have this week off because of spring
break. Whew. I feel like the recent bad stuff is drifting away from
me, in part because of regularly working out, and having time to do some
arts and crafts, both of which are therapeutic for me. I'd been having
trouble sleeping, because every time I'd hear a car door or hear the
upstairs neighbors stomping around, I'd wake up and immediately flash on
the sound of the robbers breaking down the door. Then, too jumpy to go
back to sleep, I'd stay up and eat. If it weren't for working out I'd
have gained I'm sure. I'm sad that as soon as I get stressed I fall
back to food for comfort, but last night I did sleep all the way through
the night so maybe it won't be a problem any more.

I'm sorry you have to endure that...but it will pass in time.

Don't replay it in your brain if you can help it. It will help to clear it out
of your system a tad quicker.

I don't do it during the day, but it seems to happen on its own when
loud noises wake me up in the middle of the night. It's already started
replaying before I'm totally awake. Then if I just try to go back to
sleep, it starts again when I drift off, and I jerk back awake again.
Unfortunately, I eventually just give up and eat something, and then I
can fall asleep again. It didn't happen the last couple of nights, and
I feel tangibly more relaxed, so maybe it's over.

I sincerely hope that it is over! Waking up and eating in the middle of the
night is something I do from time to time as well. It's at its worst when I'm
stressed. Just want to let you know that it's a pretty common thing.
