they are a visual for the skier to know where he/she is on the ramp and
to spot the landing area....always good things to know -

I think they're little trees. If you're referring to the stuff in the
landing area, it's probably just branches or some other benign
biological matter, there to give some surface texture/contrast so the
jumpers can tell where the ground is.--
