I hate to be preachy, but this seems like a very real problem to me. T. Boone Pickens, ExxonMobil, Chevron http://willyoujoinus.com/ and even Cheney and Bush have acknowledged that we are near a peak of oil production. There are riots over gas prices in Yemen, and other countries are dropping poor neighborhoods off their oil-fired power grids. Storms have taken a few oil rigs offline and politics and war threaten other major producers.
Despite assurances, the Saudis have not increased production to control prices.
Next Wednesday, Aug 10th, 2005 is Oil Awareness Day. There are meetups scheduled in about a dozen large cities. http://oilawareness.meetup.com/
