Just had a look at the site about why you can still cycle whilst pregnant. I had never even considered that balance would be a problem. How was it for you?

Balance was OK to be honest. I couldn't ride my road bike after about 20 weeks unless it was on the turbo! but my mountain bike was fine. It's quite an upright position so it didn't matter too much.
You do loose your centre of gravity, it's quite bizarre. One moment it's fine and the next you have to remember to counter-balance with a huge load out front!!!
Good luck over the next few days. Enjoy may be the wrong word (man speak) -- but I am sure you will look back on them with great pleasure.
Thanks Tony. Every morning that I drag my bum out of bed moaning about the pain in my hips, I do try to remember that I can spend as long in the shower as I want and DH can go out on his training ride without me moaning at him!!
On the other hand, I *really* like good dark chocolate. My favorite is Lindt 70%. My MIL knows my preferences and bought me three Green & Blacks dark chocolate bars at the hospital. I think it's time to crack them open and stop trying to get *all* my calories from healthy sources.

I didn't find balance to be a problem at all, actually. Just the carpal tunnel syndrome, which unfortunately doesn't seem to have improved since giving birth.

No - my wife's maiden name was of Austrian rather than I assume Dutch origin. It's also a real effort to get her to ride her bike, so I doubt she'd hang around on a cycling ng. When she does, she only uses four gears - left and right hand shifters in binary positions, there being no positions in-between when she rides.
Seems like an interesting coincidence - we thought we'd chosen a name that was a bit, but not too, different.
