I follow the "bikes for sale that don't exist" scams on eBay
with some amusement, but this is one of the biggest,
yet weakest ones yet. No photoshopped storefront,
no stolen photos, in fact "don't bid!"

This appears to be the guy(s) formerly known as Akron Bike 12xx. They've been at it for over a year (Akron Bike wasn't their initial name).

For a while he was helmet12xx as well, but he morphed to fermens12xx
last week, with a short detour through random usernames for a day or
two. Lately he's been splitting his listings and putting up two
batches at the same time on different user IDs.
The sad part is that I have the funny feeling that he's still finding
suckers who are either inexperienced enough or just plain dumb enough
to bite on his pitch.

Another M.O. is his use of listing categories. Here's
one:
Listed in category: Music > CDs > Comedy
Also listed in: Sporting Goods > Cycling >
Road Bicycles > Racing Bicycles
One category is legit but unrelated, the other
category doesn't exist.
