  1. Seems to me that my digital camera pictures come out either
    too dark, or too washed out - I am thinking that my monitor
    is not set up particularly well.

    Do any of you have a guide to setting up a monitor
    correctly? I don't have photoshop, so I can't use
    adobe gamma.

    Could simply be down to exposure, you really need some kind
    of image processing software to make basic contrast and
    brightness adjustments at the very least. But even if
    exposure is the problem you still need to make adjustments
    on a properly calibrated monitor.
