I hope the machines you plan to use out in the world have usable
clients and/or ports open to the world. I used to run telnet on port
80 for emergencies like that.

Jeez, you were fast 😉
I cancelled the post as soon as I rushed over to the other machine and
saw that it had worked
But you are right insofar as one has to find a machine that will allow
you to telnet and/or ssh out
In Toronto it's no problem as in a pinch I can go round to the Toronto
Free Net office as I was a founding member there
But many hotels and Internet Cafés do in fact have restrictions
I left ports 22 and 23 open anyway with the daemons started
