I am working on creating wildlife habitat that is off-limits to

Actually, spamming is one of the few (only?) areas in Vandeman's life
where he can be considered to be one of the early (and successful)
practicioners. His spamming of the cycling.org mailing lists eventually
resulted in Patrick Goebel having to shut down the service, ultimately
achieving what Vandeman wanted - disruption of communications between
cyclists that have different cycling practices and opinions than his
own.
