We need some kind of consumer-reaction to this [censored]. Maybe a big campaign to boycott the first supermarket[1] to stock a line of xmas [censored] and/or put up 'decorations'? Coordinate it online, and run it nationwide from the time of the first confirmed sighting until the start of the following year. If no such [censored] is seen before

Their [censored] excuse will probably be "we are just meeting demand" ; creating it more like. How long before they just scrap Boxing Day and have it like the US, where the Holiday (note choice of word)is over once the tills are full and the presents are open?
