While the bag does look like it has a better flap than eg the crumplers (which seem to still leave an opening at the top corners for water to seep in, esp when carried slung up on the back), there still is a chance here too that some water may seep in. There does seem to be sufficient material to roll up the top corners to improve water-tightness, but there is no way to secure that once rolled up. I was thinking it might be possible to sew on additional clips on the top corners so hold the rolled-up corners in place, but would the stitched create other problems? (the same procedure might be done on crumplers like the Very-busy-man (http://www.crumpler.com.au/cartIndex.php?prodId=104&prodType=Bag&catId=5) or wack-o-phone (http://www.crumpler.com.au/cartIndex.php?prodId=137&prodType=Bag&catId=5), though I cannot remember whether the flaps are wide enough for rolling up).
Finally, the crumplers only have the stabilizing strap (3rd leg) on one side which is the wrong side for me. The Ortlieb has them on both.
Any experiences with these bags (or alternative suggestions) welcome.

My experience of Ortlieb is that you don't. I have been using an Ortlieb Bike-Box rack pack for all-weather commuting for over three years, and nothing inside has ever got wet.
