Dunnow, is the simple answer. The screws are self tapping
and are between 5mm and 10mm. The official mounting method
involves piercing the main pannier material (quite scary
since they were *very* expensive) and screwing the external
mounting plate through the material and into an internal
plastic receiver. Presumably the screws can terminate in
*any* stiff material. I guess you wouldn't want the screws
to protrude beyond the seat into the plastic receivers but
would instead use the seat itself as the termination point?

I see no reason why you need to use the screws supplied wih
the pockets. They also have a belt loop too which you might
be able to make use of?

The plastic mounting on the POCKET is flexible, and
therefore the mounting strip which is fixed to your
pre-existiing surface (pannier/seat/helmet) can be
rigid or flexible.

So in summary, I guess you would have no problems fixing
them to your recumbent seat.

A nice touch is that they have a reflective logo to make
up for the fact that my Vaude scotchlite patch has now
been obscured.
