Yes, any treatment that alters occlusion can cause TMJ inflammation. See the
orthodontist and describe the symptoms. Often a small adjustment is all that
is needed to provide relief. Sometimes, though, other therapy is indicated,
including soft diet for awhile to reduce inflammation, oral or injected
steroids, or, in extreme cases, even surgery.
