  1. Hi all,
I'd like to organize a marathon in Brantford, Ontario for sometime in
November and I'm wondering if anyone in the group would know the
logistics and minutia of such a feat.
I'm organizing it for a Saturday since Sunday is the Sabbath day (a day
of rest) and I'm sure there are other runners who feel excluded by the
many marathons there are on Sunday.

Any helping hands would be very appreciated. You can email any
thoughts, redicule or advice at [email hidden]
    (sans "_NO_SPAM_"😉.

    Thanks,
    Jason

  2. Not THIS November, right?

  3. How hard could it be?
How is the weather there in November.

    cold?

  4. 3652 miles
    14,x,20,11/12,x,22,31 = 110 week. 13.6 a day × 267 days on a bike.
    lift weights too.
    not running yet.

  5. I thought since so groups do this, there'd be
handbooks and budgets on the web, but I
    havent found them yet.

In the US there is the mess of permits, insurance,
and on-call medics, not mention the race arrangements
themselves. US society is so litigatious, that these are
necessary if you allow strangers into a run.
My town is near lots of urban parks, national parks and
national forests, but everyone one them keeps a sharp
    eye for unpermitted organized events.
My neighborhood running group gets around this
by having no formal leadership to be "responsible" and
    most participants know each other.

Our area has 200-300 organized running events a year.
There are businesses that run much of the race for you
for a hefty fee, or you can do all the legwork yourself. I've
been involved both ways. The really big races hire a
manager for 4 to 12 months.
