Mud is perhaps the iconic symbol of cyclocross. "Mud, sweat and gears" is the phrase uttered hundreds of times every season. To say that the Cross Crusade Finals at Hillsboro Stadium was muddy is to say that Nutella on crusty French bread is "pretty good."
