I almost changed my mind. After a Tinkoff guy pulled for about 5 minutes, a
Panaria rider took over - for 3 pedal strokes.
I'm amazed the bunch lets them off so easily.

How do you force someone to ride a grand tour? Get Didi Senft to chase
'em with a pitchfork? Or are you saying the Basque country is even more
repressive than the former Eastern Bloc?

How do you force someone to ride a grand tour? Get Didi Senft to chase
'em with a pitchfork? Or are you saying the Basque country is even more

It's part of their being-a-ProTour-team deal. But they have no
expectations for any results. So they're phoning it in.

Being in the pro tour means that you have to race in all of the pro
tour events. This
is supposed to be one of the benefits of being in the pro tour,
although It hasnt helped unibet.
The bad part is that since certain sponsors may have more national
interests, they will send a lesser squad to a race outside their
country, particularly in the case when pro tour events overlap. So in
the case of Euskaltel, they had to ride both the Giro and Volta a
Catalunya, so its obvious where their focus would be. Just like most
Italian teams wouldnt send their A squad to the Vuelta...

Of course there are exceptions to this rule, like the Tour de France,
big classics..
