Hello everyone. I am pretty new to the forums though have been reading some of the articles for the past few weeks. Last summer I got into cycling on an old rusty bike I had found in the garage, so I figured if I was going to get into it I'd might as well buy something a bit better.
I felt this was reasonably priced ($740) and seemed to offer what I wanted. If anyone has any information on the bike or could validate that it was infact a decent purchase that would great!
What things would you consider upgrading off the bat? How would one go about fitting on this bike? I am 5'7 (Im 18, so I've still got an inch or two coming) on a 54cm frame.

Go here. It's $795 and free shipping. Might be a safer bet than eBay. eBay price is $740 + $40 shipping so it's close in price. As to the Motobecane bike itself, well that's another topic all together. I have no experience with Motobecane so I can not recommend it.
Have you checked other sites or your LBS. I'd suggest shopping around some more.

I strongly agree that you should try some bikes at your local shops. There are good deals to be had in the stores, particularly on remaining 2005 stock. You will also get help on sizing. I think that ebay is the right spot for experienced people to find bargains, but for novices, a place to potentially get burned. It is hard to know what frame size you might need because every person has different proportions and frames vary as well in their geometry. Two brands 54cm may differ quite a bit in fit.
John M is right on. Ebay is not a good place to buy a bike if you are a novice. You have to know precisely what you are looking for to score positively on Ebay. Definitely hit the local bike shop. No one makes a crappy bike anymore. There are many good deals available.
