I'm sorta new to the sport and will be riding as often as I can. Here's my story.... I'm looking to spend anywhere from $400-$500 for a new bike, I've done some research and learned a lot on the way, still more to come of course. Looking around these forums I see some similar topics that help but I wanted to state my own situation here.
I've been considering a few bikes for my purchase, mostly Specialized Rockhopper, Gary Fisher Marlin, K2 Zed 2.0, Marin Hawk Hill, GT Avalanche 2.0 (TOO MANY!). Disk brakes aren't that important to me at this time, I would much rather focus on quality components than adding something I most likely will never need..or could get around not having. Recently I walked in a local bike shop and they tried to sell me an Iron Horse Warrior Comp with the disck for $475, good price for disks but not too familiar with the manufacturer. I want something light, something solid, and something that will offer me the best bike for the price.
I'm open to any suggestions, even bikes not listed above.
I appreciate the replies in advance, sorry for yet another I NEED HELP post, but I plan on returning the favor in the future with any feedback from my purchase.
