Mr Hampsten.,
As the first man to walk on the moon and as the father to the only man
to win 6 Tours De France, I feel obligated to reply to your recently
published open letter. Although I belive that you do not deserve a
measured reply, I must do what I consider what is right. As you know,
ultimately you as everyone, will have to answer to God.
That said, Andy what you appear to me to be is a poor disillusioned
soul. I don't know and don't have to know, what your specific
problems are in your life, and I know not to speak for any other man
but myself.
But I know, from my life, that by the way you profess allegiance with
those that call my son a drug user, that you are another one
succumbing to and supporting the negative forces on this Earth.
Poking your head up out of the mud is what you aspire to, while the
dignified try merely to walk or ride with purpose on this, God's
Earth.
I felt and I continue to feel disgusted that you could consider it
worthwhile for such vile thoughts worthy to expose, as you did in your
open letter.
I pray for you, for whatever you were, you are a lesser man at this
time.
