  1. Before Vidalia onions came in season my grocery store was selling a
sweet onion. They don't carry it now.

I am looking for an onion that has a very mild taste. The onions they
    use at Krystal are delicious.

Mild sweet onions are available year round here in SoCal. We have, in
season, Vidalia, Walla Walla, Maui, Imperial Sweets (from Imperial/San Diego
counties), and Texas sweets. The rest of the year we get sweet onions from
Chile. I'm sure I have missed some.

I don't know what "Krystal" is, but could they have been Walla Walla
    Sweets? They're my favorite...

Krystal is basically the same thing as White Castle.
