Well I am still waiting to get my bike - going to fly to Brisvagus in
October and hopefully get to ride it before buying it!
A couple of weeks ago I went on my first pannier ride - camping overnight in
a creek with 2 other riders on their virgin trip. I was amazed how well the
old bike felt with a full load - was a great couple of days.
Next week we are going to ride to Cooktown - 300kms. Not sure yet whether we
will spread it over 3 nights on the road or two. I am thinking that it would
be more pleasant to do it over 3 nights, but will wait and see. The country
is getting very dry now so on our way home from a week up bush yesterday I
"planted" several litres of water under a few grids for our trip.
If someone had told me 3 yrs ago I would want to ride to Cooktown I would
have thought Alzeihmers had set in!

WTG. . . I've done quite a bit of loaded touring recently. . 100 km/day
is quite achievable even for novices, however 80km/day is more relaxing. . .
I like to get the billy on for a brew for afternoon tea and not get back on
the bike. . .but if there is somewhere nicer down the road, continuing is
another option. . .Have a good trip. .
