  1. I've just had my first encounter with an "Okra weevil".

    The pod contained a worm and a multitude of black eggs.

    ...has a bit of a blurred photo of the pod.

    I may be inclined to slice my Okra up in the future and check for this problem - as it is not
    obvious from the outside and may be difficult to identify without taking some care.

    This is the animal paraste I've found in supermarket-bought produce for some time.

    The Okra came from a local branch of Asda - in the UK.

    At least three Okra in the pack were so parasitised.

    Two of the remaining parasitised pods "hatched" into fairly
    large green caterpillars.

    I placed these into jars, and took them to Asda
    customer services.

    They gave me my money back, offered me two free packs of
    more okra, thanked me, took away my new pets - and said they
    would look into the cause of the problem.
