Apologies if this is not appropriate here.
Can I save a route from memory-map to an sd card and insert that in my
magellan meridian gold or do I have to get a cable and connect directly to
the pc.

I don't have Memory Map, so I can't try it. However, although the
files stored on the SD card are fairly well understood, most PC
utilities (except for Magellan's own mapping products) seem to use the
serial connection alone. In fact, there's often no way to save
waypoints, routes or tracks at all in the GPS's format - just
in the PC software's own, proprietary format.
There's quite a bit of expertise on this subject in the Yahoo group
Magellan_Meridian. In particular, there's a guy there who's written
free conversion software (gpsbabel) that covers a lot of the popular
requirements. I don't think it includes Memory Map yet, but it may be
possible to add it, or to find some workaround.
