I was sick of folk telling me how much power my TV etc burn when on standby, and now I know.
Is there a simple mathematical formula linking that to future rises in sea levels from global warming?
I'm sure there is, and there are quite a few mathematicians in this group, (He said in a voice filled with dread, Anticipating a horrendous thread).

No idea, until I casually get my meter out when visiting friends. Is that your wattmeter in your pocket, or are you pleased to see me? 8-) I will check them all again carefully, I forgot what the Hi Fi receiver pulled. The TV was only about 54 to 58w when switched on, BTW, varying with volume level apparently. The LCD screen has tiny letters, so I need a magnifying glass!
I also want to check some of the 'economy' bulbs I've installed all over the house.... -- Gordon Harris
