Out walking up on White Hill in the Forest of Bowland
yesterday.
On the summit either side of the trig point were two stone
towers. The closer of the two had a fireplace and a
chimney. I didn't check the other but from a distance it
appeared the same.
Does anyone know what the structures are?

Perhaps beacons of some kind? Maybe once lit to warn the
people of Lancaster (or somewhere) of an impending raid on
the town? Similar to the beacon of old in Penrith?
Could be completely wrong though!

This comes up often with the marilyn baggers. Never got an
explanation yet, but the one I remember looked like a
chimney. Could be a remnant after a wooden hut was removed a
long time ago. Call in The Time Team!
