I've never seen anything like this before. (And before you start, no I'm not asking if it's a good idea, or if I should buy it with my oh so terribly limited resources!)

I've seen these, they're the predecessors to the 45 degree leg press. My high school gym had one. Not nice on the lower back.

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. The local YMCA has a photo that must be circa 1940's or so based on the people's clothes. In it a young man is being coached on using one of these things.
