I will be installing an '03 Ritchey V-Pro Cross crank onto a new Surly Crosscheck. The V-Pros are Octalink splined (despite Cambria's tech telling me over email they were ISIS) so I need a compatible bottom bracket.
I don't know much about the different Octalink brackets since I try to stay away from Shimano BBs, but now that I'm stuck with Octalink, which models will fit?
I'm pretty sure the ES-71 (XT) in 68x113 will do the job nicely, but I keep seeing there are XT- and LX-specific bbs and I don't want to get stuck with another useless BB lying around to match the FSA Platinum I bought for my allegedly-ISIS V-Pros.
---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- PRO™ Cross V Crank • Forged construction with integrated spider for ample stiffness and minimal weight • Relieved center channel shaves grams and concentrates material at the bottom bracket and pedal interface • Cross-specific 38/48t wear-resistant hard anodized rings are pinned to improve shifting • 170, 172.5 and 175mm lengths • Shimano Dura-Ace or Ultegra Octalink spline compatible From Ritchey's site: <http://www.ritcheylogic.com/cranks.htm> I don't know the crank so maybe a call, email, or snail-mail might be a good check: Ritchey Design, Inc. 860 Hurlingame Avenue Redwood City, CA 94063 fax. 650.261.1317 For questions or inquiries in North and South America only - email: [email hidden]
That's easy enough.DA or ultegra octalink, also means a 109.5 spindle for a double, and the DA/ultegra(and XTR) octalink spline pattern is NOT the same as XT/LX.

So, why don't you send that lame ISIS back to the moron that told you wrong?

Yep, all Ritchey for 2004 are Octalink, to ISIS in 2005.
Get a standard 109.5mm for double BB, the 6500/ Ultegra or 105 model.

[censored], I got in a year early. 🙂
Thanks Mr. Peter. Having your input on my measly bike is like Yoda correcting my lightsabering, or something. I don't know anything about Star Wars, but I appreciate your input.
