I ran this morning in about 15 degree farenheit temps. I felt pretty warm the whole time untill I took off my lightweight wind jacket. Even then I felt fine for a while. After about 15 minutes without the jacket my stomach went numb and was red. Needless to say I put the jacket back on and warmed back up.

Anyone else have this happen?
You're kidding right?
We could experiment further to see if there's a trend...tomorrow...try running in shorts and see if your thighs get numb...after that we can try taking more clothes off and seeing just where the numbess stops. I can't imagine what might be causing the numbing but I think we should investigate further...we might apply a catalyst...say pouring water on your socks before you put them on and head out. We'll get to the bottom of this no matter how many digits and skin it may cost you.

"> Merely feeling numbness does not mean that frostbite alreay

occurred. Numbness is a warning sign, something to be alert to, alerting us to the possibility of a frostbite. He may legitimately decide to runand feel some numbness, for example because he would have to carry less clothes that hamper movement. Sounds like you have not had much experience with cold weather. If so, your fear of frostbite and extra conservatism are warranted. Had you had more experience with cold weather, you may legitimately choose to take on slightly more risk.

i never said i was afraid of cold weather. i just dont understand the point of his post. he never mentioned frostbite and i doubt he's anywhere near frostbite. what's his point? it was cold. he got numb. he put his jacket back on and he warmed up. big mystery.
